Environmental Hygiene

Head of Unit: Eng.S. Rajvandi

      According to the organizational chart,this department is under the hospital administrator and quality manager.

     Geographically, environmental hygiene unit is on the second floor of the hospital and is located in the administrative field.

     Head of this unit is eng. S. Rajvandy (Environmental Hygiene Expert) and she has been responsible for this duty since 2007.

     The unit serves every day from 7:30 to 16.




Tasks of Unit:

 1.Receiveing Orders and the work program of the relevant administrator

 2.Holding hospital hygiene and infection control committee and actively participate in its follow-up

3.Tracking Approval

4.Developing educational Subjects and holding training sessions related to environmental hygiene and public health for different categories of staff

5.Monitoring the hospital services contracts and medical examination card,laborer examination card and certificate of training public health for personnel according to the law

6.Monitoring the hospital water consumption (public network, private network) and its filing

7.Controlling the water Health in terms of qualitative and quantitative and doing the microbial and chemical and chlorine tests at assigned periods based on guidelines, standards and existing conditions

8.Monitoring the stages of collection, separation, transport, temporary storage and disposal of hospital wastes and prohibiting the sale and recycling the hospital wastes

9.Monitoring and controlling on septic of hospital and providing appropriate proposals while problems accured

10.controlling the Samples of wastewater refinery system with instructions to assess the quality of wastewater

11.Controlling insects and rodents and environmental sanitation, waste disposal and if necessary, appropriate use of chemical methods and prevention of illegal activities of other spraying companies for this hospital

12.Monitoring the preparation and application of hospital disinfectants and cleaners

13.Take the necessary action in the preparing the clothing and accessories necessary for the disinfection and spraying (gowns, hats, gloves, masks, boots, etc.) and provision of pesticides and disinfectants and other equipment and consumables used in the disinfection and spraying in coordination with the hospital heads

14.Controlling the technical and air conditioning system in hospital (heating, cooling) and follow-up in order to eliminate possible problems

15.Controlling and Following-up the health and protection in ionizing radiation ward with the help of the head of health physics

16. Continuous Technical and health monitoring on the kitchen includes: (Kitchen environmental health conditions, the refrigeration, storage of food,washrooms, staff hygiene, staff lounge, washing and disinfection of dishes, washing and disinfection of raw vegetables,Health condition of food ready to cook, equipment and utensils used, etc.)

17.Supervision and coordination of the supply chain, cook and distribute food in collaboration with nutrition experts to ensure healthy food distribution

18.Permanent monitoring the safety and health in the several steps of  laundry consist of separation the clothes(disinfection from non-infectious) ,using automatic washing machines and suitable detergents and finally disinfection of infected or contaminated clothing and ironing

Tasks of Unit:

1.Codifying Policy, strategy and objectives for occupational hygiene unit in line with the strategy and policy of hospitals

2.Creating culture in the field of occupational hygiene plans and objectives for all staff

3.Preparation and compilation of laws, regulations and guidelines and procedures related to occupational health services in hospitals

4.Planing for risk assessment and analyzing the results (identifying, measuring and evaluation of   harmful chemical, physical, ergonomic, biological and psychosocial factors in work environment) and reporting to the hospital administrator

5.Planing for routine inspection of hospital wards and units according to their risk level and the check list and reporting to relevant departments for follow-up and implementation

6.Planning for holding technical safety and health committee Dealing with the cooperation of other members, preparation of meeting minutes, follow-up meetings in accordance with the relevant regulations and send a copy of minutes of meetings related to the legal authorities, including labor offices and health centers

7.Implementing the educational program and ongoing evaluation for all hospital employees in collaboration with hospital training unit

8.Cooperating in the formulation and implementation of crisis management and disaster and participating in the relevant committees in hospitals

9.Establishing the chemical management system (identification and evaluation of chemicals and use of all chemicals in all places and MSDS preparation and education for all exposed workers with chemicals at all stages of storage and maintenance, use and disposal) In order to control environmental pollution, the personnel and the environment

10.Planning for implementation and monitoring of occupational examination (before recruitment, periodic and specific) and the formation of workers' health records

11.Cooperating in create, implement and monitor the process of registration, review, analysis and reporting of work-related accidents and diseases and the necessary and timely reporting to stakeholders (health centers, the Department of Labor, Social Security, etc.)

12.Supervising the installation of warning signs and informing and training posters about occupational health in hospitals

13.Determining the type of personal protective equipment appropriate to each job done on the basis of risk assessment,cooperating to monitor the quality of the selection process and buy it on the basis of the relevant units,training and continuous monitoring of the use and proper maintenance of personal protective equipment

14.Cooperating with other relevant experts (infection control, environmental health, etc.), to promote the objectives of unit

15.Planing to run and determine what actions, targets and corrective and preventive programs to control and reduce work-related diseases and common injuries in hospitals (musculoskeletal disorders, stress, shift work, etc.)

16.Educating and monitoring of fire safety in all parts of the hospital
